Data usage FAQs
How much data do I need for a week abroad?
For typical use — maps, messaging, social media, the odd video call — most travellers use 500MB to 1GB per day. A week of normal use is around 5–7GB. Heavy streaming pushes that higher, which is why Flylo plans are unlimited so you never have to ration.
Does Google Maps use a lot of data?
No. Map navigation uses roughly 5MB per hour. Even all-day navigation barely makes a dent. Downloading offline maps over Wi-Fi first cuts it to near zero.
What uses the most data while travelling?
Video streaming (Netflix, YouTube) and video calls are the biggest consumers — HD video can use 1–3GB per hour. Social media with autoplay video adds up too. With an unlimited Flylo plan, none of it counts against you.
